Gamefowl Breeding Calculator: Plan Your Crosses Online
Use our free gamefowl breeding calculator to plan crosses, predict offspring traits, and track multi-generation breeding programs online.

One of the hardest parts of gamefowl breeding is knowing which birds to cross. Most breeders rely on trial and error — and sometimes it takes years before you see whether a cross actually works. What if you had a tool that could help you plan crosses before committing to them?
That's exactly what we built. The ManokHub Gamefowl Breeding Calculator is a free online tool that lets you simulate gamefowl crosses, predict offspring traits, and plan multi-generation breeding programs — all from your phone or computer.
What is a Gamefowl Breeding Calculator?
A gamefowl breeding calculator is a digital tool that simulates the outcome of crossing two gamefowl bloodlines. Instead of guessing, you pick a sire and a dam, and the calculator shows you the predicted bloodline percentages, trait scores, physical characteristics, and cross compatibility of the offspring.
It's not a crystal ball — it can't predict the exact outcome of your cross. But it gives you a data-driven starting point for your breeding decisions. Think of it as a planning tool, not a replacement for experience.
How the ManokHub Breeding Calculator Works
Our calculator is simple to use but has serious depth when you need it. Here's how it works step by step.
Step 1: Select Your Sire
Choose your sire. Two input modes are available:
- Pure Bloodline — select a single bloodline (e.g., Kelso, Sweater, Hatch) and it's automatically set to 100%
- Custom Mix — if your sire is a crossbred, you can add up to 6 bloodlines with specific percentages (e.g., 50% Kelso + 50% Sweater)
Once you select a bloodline, you'll immediately see its fighting style, strengths, and weaknesses.
Step 2: Select Your Dam
Same process for your dam. Pure bloodline or custom mix — it depends on your bird.
If you're not sure of the exact percentages for a crossbred bird, estimate based on its lineage. Even if it's not 100% accurate, it still helps you plan.
Step 3: Calculate the Cross
Click the Calculate Cross button and the results appear instantly.
Step 4: Review the Results
The results panel shows you everything you need to know:
| Output | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Nick Rating | Star rating (1–5) for known cross combinations with notes on why the cross works |
| Bloodline Breakdown | Color-coded bar chart of the offspring's bloodline percentages |
| Trait Profile | Radar chart comparing Sire, Dam, and Offspring scores across 8 traits |
| Physical Traits | Predicted comb type, leg color, station (height), and weight range |
Step 5: Breed Again (Multi-Generation)
This is the most powerful feature. After a calculation, you can click "Use as Sire" or "Use as Dam" to carry the offspring into the next generation. The calculator tracks up to 8 generations — so you can see the long-term direction of your breeding program.
27 Bloodlines Available
The calculator includes 27 bloodline profiles, each with complete trait scores, physical attributes, fighting style descriptions, and known cross compatibility ratings. Organized by tier:
| Tier | Bloodlines |
|---|---|
| Tier A (Most Popular) | Kelso, Sweater, Hatch, Roundhead, Claret, Blueface Hatch, Leiper Hatch, Democrat, Regular Grey |
| Tier B (Well-Known) | Albany, Law Grey, Lemon, Whitehackle, Butcher, Boston Roundhead, McLean Hatch, Gilmore Hatch, Yellow Legged Hatch, Shamo, Muff |
| Tier C (Specialty) | Asil, Brown Red, Radio, Peruvian, Typewriter, Mughal, Pyle, Sid Taylor, Brassback |
Whether you're working with mainstream or exotic bloodlines, the calculator has the data to give you a starting point.
8 Traits Predicted for Every Cross
The calculator scores each offspring on 8 key traits (scale of 1–10), all calculated as weighted averages from the parent bloodlines:
| Trait | What It Measures |
|---|---|
| Power | Hitting strength at impact |
| Speed | Quickness of movement and attack |
| Gameness | Heart — willingness to keep fighting under pressure |
| Intelligence | Ring awareness, timing, ability to read the opponent |
| Cutting Ability | Precision of strikes (important for knife and gaff) |
| Stamina | Endurance in long fights |
| Aggression | How relentlessly the bird attacks |
| Aerial Ability | Effectiveness of overhead attacks |
You can see the comparison of sire, dam, and offspring on a radar chart — making it immediately visual where the cross gets stronger or weaker.
Known Cross Compatibility (Nick Ratings)
Not all crosses are created equal. Some have been proven over decades to produce consistently strong offspring. Our calculator includes 41 known cross combinations with star ratings and notes.
For example:
| Cross | Rating | Why It Works |
|---|---|---|
| Kelso x Sweater | 5 stars | Intelligence + aggression — the most popular cross in the Philippines |
| Hatch x Roundhead | 5 stars | Power + gameness — proven in international derbies |
| Kelso x Roundhead | 4 stars | Speed + gameness — all-around performers |
| Sweater x Hatch | 4 stars | Aggression + power — heavy-hitting combination |
If there's no known nick rating for your specific cross, the calculator still works — it just won't show a compatibility rating.
Physical Trait Predictions
Beyond fighting traits, the calculator also predicts physical characteristics:
- Comb Type — Pea comb (dominant) vs Straight comb, based on genetic dominance rules
- Leg Color — Top 3 most likely colors with visual swatches (Yellow, Green, White, etc.)
- Station (Height) — Low to High scale, shown with a visual bar indicator
- Weight Range — Estimated range in kg, calculated from parent bloodlines
These aren't exact predictions — physical traits are influenced by many factors beyond bloodline. But they give you a reasonable expectation of what to look for.
Popular Crosses to Try First
Not sure where to start? The calculator has 4 popular cross presets that load with a single click:
- Kelso x Sweater — The classic Filipino cross. Smart, aggressive, well-rounded.
- Hatch x Roundhead — Power meets heart. Proven at the international level.
- Kelso x Roundhead — Speed and gameness combo.
- Sweater x Hatch — Relentless aggression with knockout power.
Click a preset and both the sire and dam fields are automatically filled — instant results.
Share and Save Your Results
Every calculation generates a shareable URL. You can copy it and send it to a friend or breeding partner. Your state is also saved in your browser — even if you close the tab, your last calculation will still be there when you come back.
This is especially useful for groups discussing breeding plans — just share the link and everyone sees the exact same results.
Why Use a Gamefowl Breeding Calculator?
For serious breeders, gut feeling isn't enough. Here's why a breeding calculator makes sense:
- Save time and money. Instead of years of trial and error, you can see the theoretical outcome of a cross immediately.
- Plan multi-generation programs. Go beyond a single cross — map out the 3rd, 4th, up to 8th generation offspring.
- Make data-informed decisions. See the strengths and weaknesses of a cross before you breed.
- Learn about bloodlines. Even if you're not yet an experienced breeder, the calculator teaches you about traits and compatibility across different bloodlines.
Disclaimer: This is a planning tool. Actual results depend on the quality of individual birds, environment, conditioning, and many other factors. Always consult experienced breeders and veterinarians for hands-on guidance.
Tips for Using the Breeding Calculator Effectively
Here are some practical tips to get the most out of the calculator:
Start with proven crosses. If you're just getting started, use the popular cross presets first. Kelso x Sweater is the safest starting point — it has a 5-star nick rating and well-documented results in Philippine derbies.
Use Custom Mix for your actual birds. If you know the lineage of your existing stock, use Custom Mix mode to input the actual bloodline percentages. The more accurate your input, the more accurate the predictions.
Plan 3 generations ahead. Don't focus on a single cross. Use the multi-generation feature to see where your breeding program is heading. For example, if your goal is high-gameness offspring, track how the gameness score increases over 3–4 generations of selective crossing.
Compare before deciding. Try multiple crosses with the same sire — just swap the dam. You'll see side-by-side which combination looks best based on trait scores and nick ratings.
Share with your breeding partners. If you're working with a breeding partner, share the calculation URL. You'll both see the exact same results — no need to explain verbally.
Keep notes. The calculator is a starting point. Record the actual outcomes of your crosses and compare them to the predictions. Over time, you'll build your own database of what works and what doesn't.
